Alphabet Stock Holds $341 as Cloud Growth and Ad-Tech Relief Put $350.75 in Focus

Source Tradingkey

TradingKey - Alphabet closed at $347.33 on September 17. This is a 1.30% gain from its previous closing price of $342.87. We may expect an intraday price reversal to $347.39. The Alphabet stock has broken above the $327.76 to $333.74 support area and is above the $341 and moving average near $342.86. Looking at Alphabet's fundamental factors, we may consider the upside potential. Positive factors for Alphabet include the recent ad-tech legal relief and Alphabet's strongest growth engine, Google Cloud.

Google Cloud Is the Strongest Growth Engine

During Alphabet's Q2 2026, Google Cloud revenue increased 82% year over year to $24.77 billion and accounted for roughly 21% of the total revenue mix. Cloud operating income was $8.81 billion, representing a year-over-year increase of 211.89%. The Cloud business is rapidly growing and is profitable. During the same quarter, Google's Search and other advertising businesses generated a combined revenue of approximately $63.27 billion, representing a 16.76% year-over-year increase. Due to the ongoing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, the growth of the Cloud business, and advancements in computing power, it is possible that the Cloud business will cannibalize Alphabet's Search revenue in the long term. While it's too early to determine the long-term impact of AI on Search revenue, current trends suggest that the business is not cannibalizing Search and is complementing it.

Gemini Adoption Is Huge, but the Flagship Delay Matters

Alphabet Inc. reported that its Gemini app had reached over 1 billion monthly active users. Furthermore, Gemini models were processing 22 billion API tokens per minute. Nearly 90% of the Fortune 100 companies were using Gemini Enterprise. Gemini 3.5 Pro remains delayed and in partner testing, with no official release date. However, there are reports that Gemini 3.5 Pro, and other models have fallen short on coding and agentic tasks. Despite these delays, Alphabet is releasing lighter models of Gemini, such as Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite. Alphabet also has other models in the works. I think Alphabet has less competitive risks in its other business lines. Thus, I do not view the delays to the various models of Gemini as threat to Alphabet's overall business.

Ad-Tech Breakup Risk Eased This Week

On September 16, we got some much needed court house relief. Judge Brinkema, in part, placed limits on certain Google ad-auction restrictions, but also said no to full-on breakup. That is way better than the worst case that was haunting the market. Even with the breakup avoided, integration edges between parts of the Google Ad-Tech business may be reduced. As of now, Google’s plan is to appeal. Before the court case, Google integrated fully several different parts of the Ad-Tech business, including parts of its publisher Ad Server and Ad Exchange. With the court case resolution, Google keeps its ad-tech assets, while some integration between its publisher ad server and AdX must be reduced, and the worry of an asset breakup, as part of Alphabet’s main profit Stream, diminished.

Crux AI Extends Alphabet’s TPU Strategy

On September 16, Google-backed Crux AI secured approximately $22 billion in bank financing, while Blackstone is contributing around $5 billion in equity, to build a 500 MW AI cloud computing venture. Google will contribute TPUs, software and services. The partnership extends Alphabet’s monetization of TPU hardware beyond Google Cloud. As Edge AI, network, and computing hardware, and software become increasingly integrated, Google is primed to benefit in the enterprise and consumer AI field.

CapEx and Free Cash Flow Are the Main Risks

Capital expenses are high. Alphabet's anticipated capital expenditures for 2026 have increased to roughly $195 billion to $205 billion, whereas free cash flow for Q2 of this year came in negative, for the first time ever as a public company, at approximately $5.9 billion. Alphabet also issued $20.3 billion of senior unsecured notes during the quarter for general corporate purposes. The main risk for Alphabet is capital expenditure (CapEx) and free cash flow (FCF). Alphabet must demonstrate that its investments in data centers and other supporting infrastructure generate financial returns that are greater than Alphabet's cost of capital. Alphabet's investments in Finland demonstrate the importance of compute and energy.

Reported EPS Needs Normalization

Alphabet's EPS of $9.11 in Q2 2026 should not be viewed as representation of core operating income. Some $98 billion worth of Q2 unrealized gains pushed Alphabet’s GAAP net in the quarter. The Search, YouTube and Cloud business divisions certainly did not account for that $98 billion non-operating gain in the quarter. The bright side is that some of Alphabet’s businesses can gain and/or lose money, and the rest of the earnings are not solely dependent on advertising and can push operating income for the firm in the right direction.

From an investor’s standpoint, management’s take on cloud infrastructure, even though one of the largest cash burn operations in the history of the world, is that it will drive top line growth in the coming years. However, not working to gain market share will not bode well for the company in the interim.

Alphabet Technical Analysis: $350.73 Is the Immediate Breakout Test

GOOGL (Alphabet) closed at $347.33 on September 17, 2026, after testing support in the $327.76 - $333.74 region. Buyers successfully tested $341.00 and the moving average at $342.86, while price action has defined a series of higher lows.

The major resistance region is $350.73. A close above this region will open the next resistance region at $354.15 and $357.33. Extending further, $363.83 can be reached. RSI at 58 is aligned with the signal line. This suggests a consolidation of positive momentum.

Support can be anticipated at $342.86 and $341.00. Should this region be broken, price will fall to $333.74. More support can be anticipated at $327.76.

Key Levels

• Latest completed close: $347.33

• Immediate support: $342.86 - $341.00

• Secondary support: $333.74

• Major structural support: $327.76

• Breakout resistance: $350.73

• First upside target: $354.15

• Second upside target: $357.33

• Higher target: $363.83

• RSI: Around 58, constructive and not overbought

Why is Alphabet stock in focus now?

Google Cloud grew 82% year over year in Q2 2026. Search is healthy. Adoption of Gemini is large. The latest ad-tech ruling allowed Alphabet to avoid a forced breakup. Alphabet expects to spend 195-205 billion on capital expenditures in 2026. This has made capital efficiency and free cash flow recovery the most important issues.

What level confirms further GOOGL upside?

A 2-hour close above $350.73 would confirm a continuation towards $354.15 and then $357.33. If GOOGL closes below $341 then the recovery can be regarded as over and attention would be given to $333.74.

Bottom Line

The setup for Alphabet is bullish and continues to improve. The largest worry is how efficiently Alphabet will be able to use its capital after it pushed out 2026 estimated capex to the tune of 195-205 billion. The dominant position of Google Cloud and a recent ad-tech ruling leaves much less concern and opportunities. From a technical standpoint, GOOGL will be trading at bullish levels as long as it does not break below $341. At that point, there is great interest in seeing if GOOGL can clear $350.73 to rally towards $354.15 and $357.33.
