Apple Stock Outlook: Hardware Engineering Chief Ternus to Succeed as CEO, Wall Street Positive as Stock Could Rebound to Record High of $344

Source Tradingkey

TradingKey - On September 1 EST, Apple (AAPL) completed its first top management transition since 2011. Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering John Ternus succeeded Tim Cook as the company's eighth Chief Executive Officer, while Cook transitioned to Executive Chairman of the Board.

It is reported that Ternus graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1997 and joined Apple's product design team in 2001. Starting with Mac external displays, he went on to lead AirPods, Mac, iPad, iPhone, and ultimately the entire hardware engineering system.

Meanwhile, Apple recently announced that it will hold its autumn new product launch event on September 9 EST, themed "Surprise and Shine." This will mark Ternus's first major public appearance as CEO.

The market generally expects this launch event to break Apple's decade-plus iPhone release cadence—with no standard iPhone 18, leaving only the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and the first foldable iPhone.

Wall Street currently maintains a positive view on Apple's CEO transition. Bank of America maintained its "Buy" rating and $380 price target; Citi maintained a "Buy" rating and $315 price target; JPMorgan expressed a "positive view" on the transition and maintained its "Overweight" rating.

BofA analyst Wamsi Mohan stated that Ternus will evaluate the possibility of increasing the AI infrastructure budget, noting that Apple abandoning its net cash neutral target "may signal increased R&D spending, capital expenditures, and larger-scale M&A."

Apple stock price chart, Source: TradingView

Apple's latest price is around $325, having reclaimed the 0.382 Fibonacci retracement level ($317.52) and its short- to medium-term moving averages, and is approaching the 0.236 Fibonacci retracement level ($327.85), indicating that short-term buying dominated the day.

The daily chart rebound has shifted from low-level recovery to testing key overhead resistance. However, $327.85 has not yet been convincingly broken, and the current stage should still be defined as rebound consolidation and breakout confirmation.

On the upside, if the stock price can convincingly settle above $327.85 and hold that level during pullbacks, the rebound room is expected to extend further toward the all-time high ($344.56).

Conversely, if the price encounters resistance near $327.85 and falls back below $317.52, this rally is more likely to revert to range-bound consolidation rather than forming a trend breakout.
