SanDisk Shares Surge Past $1,600: Will They Hit Another High This Year?

Source Tradingkey

TradingKey - SanDisk's share price continued to rally nearly 7% today, breaking through the $1,600 mark. While short-term profit-taking and selling from breakeven traders may emerge, Wall Street remains broadly bullish on it reaching new highs.

On August 14 Eastern Time, SanDisk (SNDK) shares surged further, decisively breaking above the $1,600 mark. In pre-market trading, SanDisk jumped 6.73% to $1,630.96, reaching a new high since July 23. Yesterday, SanDisk surged nearly 14%, igniting the memory and chip sectors.

The core catalyst behind SanDisk's recent stock surge stems from the stunning long-term financial model and industry transformation signals unveiled at its 2026 Investor Day yesterday, including a target gross margin of up to 80%, returning 100% of remaining free cash flow to shareholders, and dampening cyclicality through long-term contract mechanisms.

These three factors not only lay a solid foundation for SanDisk's fundamentals, but also dispel market doubts about the broader industry, giving it a high win rate and significant upside potential. Following SanDisk's announcement of its market-shaking long-term financial model, top Wall Street firms updated their ratings and price targets for the stock, generally expecting it to reach new highs, with bullish targets reaching as high as $3,000, as outlined below:

Institution

2-Month Target Price

Core Logic

Bernstein

$3,000

Quarterly ASP (average selling price) maintains explosive growth of 30%, with AI server eSSD demand driving an extremely high profit premium.

Cantor Fitzgerald

$2,900

AI inference and High Bandwidth Flash (HBF) open up a brand-new physical market, creating strong moats for long-term market share and gross margin.

Bank of America

$2,500

100% of remaining free cash flow returned to shareholders, NAND supply growth is capped, and pricing power remains solid.

Goldman Sachs

$2,200

FY2028–2030 guidance of 80% gross margin and 75% operating margin far exceeded expectations, with HBF technology breaking through the AI 'memory wall'.

Morgan Stanley

$1,750

Inelastic AI demand from cloud giants remains resilient, while long-term contract mechanisms effectively smooth out historical memory market boom-and-bust cycles.

Although Wall Street is generally bullish on SanDisk's future, it faces short-term selling pressure from trapped overhead supply and short-term profit-taking. SanDisk has accumulated breakeven supply in the $1,600–$1,800 range from June's pullback, which could lead to near-term consolidation at higher levels or even a technical retest of the $1,400 support level.
